Volkswagen's Beetle has a powerful charm which attracts people right at first glance. Its look is simply killing. Besides, we can simply call it a retro-styled and sporty car which is redesigned to be called as the all new Beetle. In fact, Volkswagen has named this cute car as the "New" Beetle, but will be simply called as Beetle for 2012.
What's new:The 2012 Volkswagen beetle will be redesigned to provide more sporty looks and added performance. As far as the manufacturer is concerned, this New Beetle will flaunt its retro-styled look with larger dimensions and space at the interior. The prime highlights would be at the interior and will come in the market as a 2-door hatchback sedan. As of rumor, we have also heard that this New Beetle will boast a cloth convertible pattern while getting launched in 2012. Nevertheless, the redesigned model can postpone its arrival for the model year 2013.
Engine and other features:The Beetle is something different which will soon launch in the coming year. It features a turbocharged 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine, but now we have tested the ever-present 2.5 liter 5-cylinder engine which is mated to a 6-speed Tiptronic conventional automatic transmission. This makes the car far more manly and aggressive than its earlier version. Apart from its historical-like styling, the car doesn't possess much change from inside. Still, there are few things to consider which are no doubt overwhelming. It has a Fender-branded audio system and impressive set of speakers which literally rocks.
Design:This redesigned Beetle is cute and is bubbly due to its longer front hood, sloping tail and a lowered roof. All in all, the result is its more sport and fresh appearance as compared to what it was earlier. Its rounded headlights adorned at the front fascia makes the Beetle look naturally amazing. The 18 inches full face chromed wheels adds to the beauty of this car. Its wide front doors and roomier rear seat are something to talk about. Leaving apart the Jetta finishes, the car from inside holds Volkswagen trademark leatherette which can be found both on the driver as well as passenger seats.
Performance:Volkswagens smaller powertrain offers 2.5 liter engine which makes an output of 170 horsepower and 177 pound feet of torque. To bring maximum power, a 6-speed Tiptronic has been used, forcing the car to run quickly and smoothly. More refined experience can be received due to its 6-speed dual clutch unit. Hydraulic power steering, front struts, stability control system, 4-wheel disc brakes, 2,900 pounds of weight with EPA 20 mpg on city and 29 mpg on highway are some of the features that this Beetle holds.
Price:Beetle's price range is set at a start with ,995. It comes with its two-doors in a range of trim levels representing the base model and added goodies. With five-cylinder feature, the car will boast a moonroof, navigation, heated seats, big alloy wheels, and a range of other goodies which will increase the price at around ,000 more.
